Denai Moore-Introducing

Every now and then i come across an artist who blows me away on a first play . It’s what makes writing such a privilege hearing artists before they break into the big time. Make no mistake even to an ear as cynical as mine if this taster ‘Flaws’ is representative of what’s to come from her debut e.p then a star is truly born this 19yr old has it all it’s both sassy and melodic without being overstated !

Born in Spanish Town in Jamaica in 1993, she grew up surrounded by her musician father’s instruments and record collection at home, and by the time her family moved to Stratford, London when she was 10 she was already displaying songwriting abilities beyond her years.

After hitting her first writers block at the tender age of 17 it was the sounds of Feist and Bon Iver which helped fuel her current musical adventures – a sound she refers to as ‘Foul’ (Folk and Soul) which captures as much of the spirit of Tracy Chapman as it does of Justin Vernon.

‘Flaws’ is the first taste of her forthcoming recorded material, developed over the last 12 months at her regular shows at London’s Cable Street Electric (where other regulars include Third Cortez and Tommy Hare) where she regularly stuns the room into silence with the rare fragility of her songs and vocals.

Her first EP currently being recorded at Urchin Studios with Matt Ingram (who has previously worked with Laura Marling) will be released in Jan 2013 on Hard Livings Records.
